Dear Colleagues,
I am pleased to announce that after an extensive search, Erin Mitchell has been selected as the new executive director for the Office of Procurement and Business Services (PBS). She will transition to her new role on Feb.1, reporting directly to me, vice president for Finance and Planning and chief financial officer.
Erin brings more than a decade of progressive leadership in procurement and procure-to-pay operations at Georgia Tech, most recently serving as director of Procurement for PBS. In this role, she has led enterprise-wide modernization efforts to strengthen service delivery, improve efficiency, and advance compliance with institutional and regulatory requirements across business services. Erin championed the integration of robotic process automation to streamline procure-to-pay processes—work that earned the 2023 Vision Award from the Georgia Department of Administrative Services—and served as the functional lead for Procurement during Georgia Tech’s initial Workday implementation, ensuring systems aligned with the needs of faculty, staff, and students. Known for her people-first leadership approach, Erin has built and mentored high-performing teams, fostered strong cross-campus partnerships, and cultivated trusted relationships with academic and administrative partners.
In her new role, Erin will provide leadership and oversight for mission-critical business and administrative services, including procurement, business intelligence, accounts payable, travel, insurance and claims, property control, logistics, and surplus operations. Her experience in process transformation, operational excellence, and partner engagement positions her well to lead PBS in advancing the Institute’s strategic and business service goals.
I am excited to have Erin as a trusted partner on my leadership team. Please join me in congratulating Erin on her new role and welcoming her to this new chapter at Georgia Tech.
Regards,
Kim Toatley
